fitting pipe

Ever wonder how plumbers and HVAC guys connect pipes? They spend a lot of time fitting pipes and have some tricks you might not know about! This guide will take us through how to fit pipes – measuring them, cutting them and ensuring no leaks.

Well, before you can join pipes together, you must have the right size and length of each to be fitted. Pipe measuring may little bit tricky, but you can quickly do it by just following those simple steps. The first step is to measure the length of pipe you need (a tape-measure will work just fine). Ensure that when you take the tape measure along a pipe, it goes straight. Step 4: Cut the pipe to length using a plumbers Pipe Cutter. Be sure to cut slowly and carefully when using the cutter. It needs to be grooved on the top side of the pipe using a cutter. Once you find the groove and see that it is completely around the pipe, turn (not twist) with care until it breaks off cleanly....because otherwise you will end up with jagged edges that will be difficult to fit the pipes together.

Expert tips for securing a leak-free pipe connection

You need to get to a point where your pipes are cut and you will be fitting them together. This is the trickiest part for some, but here are a few leak prevention tips: A good trick is to apply Teflon tape on the threads of your pipe fittings. Teflon tape is a kind of tape that can make about as tight seal, so the water does not come out. It will wrap around the threads and seal up tiny holes. You also need to ensure you tighten your fittings well. Rotate the fittings with a pipe wrench until snug (not too hard as to break pipes. Keep in mind the goal here is snug, not tearing.
